Mullett Township
is a general law township in Cheboygan County, Michigan. The population was 1312 in the 2010 US census. The township and Mullett Lake are named for John Mullett, who with William Burt, surveyed much of the area between 1840 and 1843.

The commercial center of the Township is the quiet unincorporated Village of Topinabee located on the west shore of Mullett Lake on M27 highway. The village is a trailhead for the DNR Trail with off-street parking and restrooms.

The village has a Post Office, Convenience Store with gas pumps, Public Library with 24 hour outdoor WiFi, an artisan-owned woodwork shop, a breakfast cafe and a bar and grille. Township owned buildings include the Library, Township Hall and Fire Hall, and an unused former school building on Lea St.

Recreation needs are served with a beachfront park and covered picnic area, free public boat launch at the north end of the village, a small public access to Mullett Lake across from the Nokia Cafe and tennis court, ball-field, and playground equipment at a public park located up the hill on Lea St.

The east side of Mullett Township is largely rural, with no commercial development. Township services include a Fire Hall and volunteer East Mullett Lake Fire Department.

All Is Ready-BIG CHILL Weekend in Topinabee

Update-February 20, 2014

It's just amazing what happens after a slip and fall occurs at the Mullett Township Hall. Someone finds a snow shovel and actually cleans a public sidewalk.

An over-flowing trashcan and filthy public restrooms were not a slip and fall issue. They were a clear sign that Mullett Township Supervisor Mary Anne Gale is sticking to her promise to not spend her time "supervising an employee" because she "doesn't have the time". Yes, Mullett Township is paying an employee $13.50 an hour to not shovel snow and not clean restrooms. Your tax dollars at work.

There have been requests for a restrooms update.

Here is the down and dirty as of 2 PM February 18th. This is not open government. It is simply BAD government.

The restrooms show evidence of Supervisor MaryAnne Gale's cleaning touch. Hold your nose and throw a roll of toilet paper in there. This is the kind of work that garnered public accolades from Ms Mary O'Hare, TDA President.

Here are the dirty pictures.
Another snowfall, another walk not shoveled.

Four days after first reported, the feces remains.

It's February 14th at 2 PM
and Topinabee is all ready for the

BIG CHILL Weekend

The sidewalks are cleared and the trashcans are emptied.

Special memories of Topinabee to take home and share with friends .

The restrooms are cleaned and the ladies is fanatastic.

The improved park looks wonderful with the ice rink and warming tent all ready for Saturday's crowd.

Mullett Lake will be busy with the throngs of people taking advantage of the FREE fishing weekend.

Topinabee's sidewalks on M27 are all cleared and people can envision how the TDA's Streetscape improvements will look.

Or, we can all ask: Why is the Mullett Township Board planning another deficit budget for 2014/2015 to bankroll the TDA Streetscape when they cannot maintain the two toilets and few feet of sidewalk they have now?
