Mullett Township
is a general law township in Cheboygan County, Michigan. The population was 1312 in the 2010 US census. The township and Mullett Lake are named for John Mullett, who with William Burt, surveyed much of the area between 1840 and 1843.

The commercial center of the Township is the quiet unincorporated Village of Topinabee located on the west shore of Mullett Lake on M27 highway. The village is a trailhead for the DNR Trail with off-street parking and restrooms.

The village has a Post Office, Convenience Store with gas pumps, Public Library with 24 hour outdoor WiFi, an artisan-owned woodwork shop, a breakfast cafe and a bar and grille. Township owned buildings include the Library, Township Hall and Fire Hall, and an unused former school building on Lea St.

Recreation needs are served with a beachfront park and covered picnic area, free public boat launch at the north end of the village, a small public access to Mullett Lake across from the Nokia Cafe and tennis court, ball-field, and playground equipment at a public park located up the hill on Lea St.

The east side of Mullett Township is largely rural, with no commercial development. Township services include a Fire Hall and volunteer East Mullett Lake Fire Department.

Get Your Name Down For Some Free Stuff

People have been asking, where do I put my name down to get this free stuff Mullett Township is giving away?

The sign in sheet is apparently maintained by Supervisor MaryAnne Gale. It’s a short, exclusive list and you will have to ask her how a person gains a seat at the freebie table.

The Callaghan’s Mullett Lake boat house illegally squatted on the Sutherland road end for decades. Brian Callaghan openly stated he knew it was on public property and even poured a concrete floor under it, not moving it, knowing full well it was not entirely on his property. Supervisor MaryAnne Gale then acquiesced to a lawyer’s demand and Quit Claimed Mullett Township land to this squatter.

At their Mullett Lake cottage, the Nissely’s apparently parked vehicles for years on railway property. This railway land was then bought by the DNR and a small portion was sold this year to Mulllett Township. The Nissley’s enjoyed quiet use of this drive for years, but never pressed the railway or DNR for adverse possession. Supervisor MaryAnne Gale is another duck and the word is out, if you need a few more square feet for your lakefront lot, talk to her.

Need a road end closed, talk to Supervisor MaryAnne Gale. She refused to accept the offer from the Cheboygan County Road Commission to “gift” the Deveraux Lake and Jewel road ends to Mullett Township, protecting them forever from adverse passion by adjacent land owners. Wagers are now being taken on how long it will take for Supervisor MaryAnne Gale to facilitate giving this property to adjacent land owners.

Are people harassing you by driving on what in your opinion is a “private” road, talk to Supervisor MaryAnne Gale. She undoubtedly has her crack legal team working on ways to give away another Mullett Township public asset.

The July 1, 2013 Mullett Township Board meeting agenda mentions disposal of library computers. The deal has already been done. Why discuss it after the fact? Supervisor MaryAnne Gale said sell them, and that is what the library staff did. End of story. Any further discussion in public is only Supervisor MaryAnne Gale’s attempt to cover her _ _ _.

Need free banquet tables? Supervisor MaryAnne Gale is giving them away. Supervisor MaryAnne Gale used her township maintenance man, paid at the rate $14.50 an hour, and possibly on OT, to deliver 10 banquet tables to the annual TDA rummage sale at the park pavilion at 6:30AM on a Saturday morning. The TDA enjoyed free use of these townshio owned tables delivered at taxpayer cost. Then, because Supervisor MaryAnne Gale and the TDA apparently are entitled, the tables were simply left at the pavilion all weekend. Sorry, that’s incorrect. Seven (7) tables were subsequently stolen from the pavilion because Supervisor MaryAnne Gale is incapable of protecting the assets of Mullett Township.

Get your name on the list. Ask Supervisor MaryAnne Gale if you can borrow a few banquet tables for your own use. Ask Supervisor MaryAnne Gale to have them delivered as well. Does your request fall on deaf ears?
