Update: June 21, 2011-As of today, there is still NO swim dock installed at the Topinabee Beach Park and the boat dock at the Sutherland Road end remains piled on the shore. I do not personally use any of these docks, but they are an essential service for many residents and visitors. The undefined and unprotected swim area is seeing heavy use whenever the sun shines. The Board's failure to have the dock and swim buoys installed presents an imminent danger to children swimming at the beach. The Board touted their decision last year to spend a large amount of money on new swim buoys and this year they are still sitting in a shed on June 21st.
As dawn broke on this beautiful summer day, the seasonal boat dock at the Topinabee Beach Park was finally installed and ready for use. The Mullett Township Board has again demonstrated they lack the skills to make a simple bureaucratic decision with the annual need to secure a contract and have the docks installed in a timely manner.
A new service for residents and visitors, a You Tube channel Mullett Township Board Meetings is now available.

The commercial center of the Township is the quiet unincorporated Village of Topinabee located on the west shore of Mullett Lake on M27 highway. The village is a trailhead for the DNR Trail with off-street parking and restrooms.
The village has a Post Office, Convenience Store with gas pumps, Public Library with 24 hour outdoor WiFi, an artisan-owned woodwork shop, a breakfast cafe and a bar and grille. Recreation needs are served with a beachfront park and covered picnic area, free public boat launch at the north end of the village, a small public access to Mullett Lake across from the Nokia Cafe and tennis court, ball-field, and playground equipment at a public park located up the hill on Lea St.
